We have assembled an all-star panel of speakers including executives of two local sports franchises, a league commissioner,, and the CEO from the recognized leader in sports broadcasting.  This dynamic discussion will be moderated by a distinguished professor from Harvard Business School.

Summary:

This panel will describe the financial, strategic and operational issues faced by executives in the world of sports.  The audience will hear the perspectives of the CFO of one of the most popular brands in all of sports, the President of the most successful sports franchise in history, the commissioner of a fledgling sports league, and an executive from the worldwide leader in sports coverage.  This program will offer two CPE credits.

 

Learning Objectives: 

After completing this course, you should be able to:

Ø      Understand the financial challenges faced in launching a sports league with a limited operating budget.

Ø      Explain how a sports franchise executes a responsible financial strategy while remaining competitive both on and off the field.

Ø      Describe the challenges that the sports media faces in the most competitive sports environment in the country.

Ø      Appreciate how sports executives must make a trade-off between prudent long-term financial management and satisfying the public’s desire to “just win now.”

Ø      Recognize the important role that sports plays in our culture, and how that creates a unique management responsibility in the community.
